![]() ![]() ![]() My school has a majority low-income and 81% minority enrollment and we have been doing remote learning since a year from this date. My passion is education and I know that many students can share this desire, but it is hidden beneath distractions and social norms for so many people around the world. Gates, I am a 16 year old at Wilson HS in Long Beach, California. This vaccine is inexpensive - around $3 to $2 once you get into high high volume but there are fixed costs to get going. We sent funds to Serum Institute and others early in the pandemic because of the lead time for factories including regulatory review to make sure the factory is high quality. The problem with vaccine manufacturing quickly is not an IP problem. I value anyone looking at what we have done and giving us suggestions. Our foundation has given over $2B to help with this pandemic. In addition, because it is patented, it can only be produced by AstraZeneca, and poor countries have no or limited access to inexpensive vaccines. So, now, not only did AstraZeneca receive all the accolades for "developing" a vaccine (which the company did not do), it's also being produced in limited quantities and sold for $4 per dose to the federal government, which is about 20 times more expensive than the estimated cost if the formula had been open source and allowed to be mass produced by any manufacturer with the required equipment. But after their announcement that they would make the vaccine free to produce, they received immense pressure from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (wherein Oxford research staff were threatened with the reduction or elimination of all grants from the Foundation, not limited only to those for medical research) to patent the vaccine and partner with AstraZeneca to sell it. ![]() It comes after fans also wrote about how they felt that this season is "underwhelming" and "isn't up to the same standard" as previous years. When Oxford University was working on a COVID-19 vaccine it announced that it would be made "open source", meaning that any pharmaceutical manufacturer would be able to produce it legally without infringement on any drug patent, which would make the vaccine more widely available and less expensive, enabling widespread vaccination of the economically destitute populations in developing countries. "The last thing I wanna see is a judge who doesn't personally like or understand (insert cuisine) start inputting that personal opinion in to grade a dish they probably wouldn't like even if cooked perfectly." They all have such a difference in background that it makes it difficult for them to fairly judge a dish without having some benchmark against. I like that they generally discuss with each other and reach consensus on a dish. I see consensus on fundamentals like temp, texture, viscosity etc. "If taste is subjective why bother having judges at all. Or maybe the judges have similar palate, so that they always reach consensus. However, some people didn't mind the way the judges tend to agree, with one user writing, "Maybe the dish is either too bad, or too good. "But I would just love to hear one of the judges say - 'I've got to totally disagree with you two guys'!" "The total consensus really annoys me - although I'm sure it's agreed during the tasting as the cooks prepare their food and the judges do their rounds," a third added. Jock Zonfrillo's 'secret' project before his death: 'Personal' Surprising reason MasterChef removed its theme song this season MasterChef fans left 'underwhelmed' by this year's season "I couldn’t agree more, the judging is always quite boring cuz it’s either overwhelmingly positive or negative. "Oh my god I’ve been wondering this for ages!" another said. "I think it would be nice to have Andy really like a dish but Mel really isn’t a fan - like they can’t all have identical palates - surely we’ve been at restaurants where one person didn’t like their dish but another tried it and enjoyed it." "I’m with you, even though I understand we are getting a very ‘produced’ judging," another user responded. MasterChef fans have taken to social media to share their annoyance over a judging detail, with many agreeing it's 'boring'. ![]()
